Keith spent 15 years working in marketing roles at asset-management firms, including Invesco Perpetual, BNY Mellon and Scottish Widows Investment Partnership. Since going freelance, he’s been helping to craft marketing copy and web content for FTSE 100 firms through to start-ups, across the financial sector and others. Keith is also deputy editor at an innovative hyperlocal newspaper in London. He started working with Copylab in 2014.
Cormac has been editing and copywriting in a professional capacity for more than 14 years. His experience in the field began in 2001 with freelance subediting shifts for the Irish edition of the Daily Mirror, and also encompasses five years as an editor and lexicographer at HarperCollins, where he was latterly head of content for English dictionaries. He has been working with the Copylab team since March 2014, but set out on his present career in financial copywriting five years previously, when he joined Martin Currie Investment Management. Cormac is a graduate of St Andrews University, where he studied English and French.
Fiona joined Copylab in 2013 and writes reports for one of our principal London-based clients, combining her technical knowledge of the investment world with her language skills. After graduating from Oxford University in Modern Languages, Fiona began her career at KPMG in London, specialising in international investigations and M&A due diligence. She then joined Scottish Life as an investment analyst on the US and Asian equity desks, before being appointed fund manager of Latin American equities. After a career break to raise her family, Fiona worked as a freelance translator before joining Copylab.
Alice began working in financial services as an IFA in 2007, following a career as a photographer and video producer. She became an investment writer and financial journalist in 2009, working for a wide variety of leading financial institutions in contract roles while gaining broad experience of writing for different sectors and audiences. Alice studied English and Russian at St Andrews University and joined Copylab in 2016.
James began his career in financial journalism 16 years ago, prior to joining Legg Mason in 2004 as an investment writer. He has worked for a variety of asset managers over the years, applying his writing and editing skills to equities, fixed income and alternatives. James has a track record in producing investment-marketing materials as well as fund-reporting content.
Tim Wickham has more than 20 years’ experience as a business writer and editor. He writes on a range of topical business and investment areas, and loves transforming corporate speak into clear English. Tim has written for companies in the financial services, energy and auto sectors, including Audi UK, BP, Prudential and Zurich Insurance. He regularly manages projects from editorial planning through to design and production, and is passionate about seeing the job through to completion.
Nick has been writing investment-related copy for asset managers since 1997. While he is highly experienced in reporting, both for the retail and institutional channels, he also enjoys crafting engaging marketing content. Away from finance, Nick is an enthusiastic creative writer with a number of ebooks to his name. He holds a BA (Hons) in German from the University of London and the Investment Management Certificate.
Tim has over 20 years’ experience in the investment industry, having worked at Alliance Trust, where he covered all the major regions and sectors of the world as both an analyst and portfolio manager. He has an M.A. (Hons) degree in economics from St Andrews University, an MSc in investment analysis from Stirling University, and the ASIP designation (CFA equivalent). Tim joined Copylab in September 2016 as a freelance writer and is currently working with our London team, helping them draft and edit monthly and quarterly credit reports.
Alexis covered equity markets for 13 years at Bloomberg News, latterly working as its senior markets reporter for Europe. In 2014, he left to start a freelance career in investment writing. Since then, he’s worked for some of the leading names in financial services, including Old Mutual Global Investors nd STOXX Ltd. His investment writing experience includes thought-leadership articles, thematic pieces and fund reporting. He graduated from the London School of Economics with a degree in European sudies and is also fluent in Spanish.
Sam has been a financial journalist since 2005. Following an early career spanning advertising and television production, she has worked for a number of trade newspapers and magazines, including editing FT Business’s flagship investment title. Since becoming freelance in 2013 she has worked across a number of trade and consumer-facing publications as well working directly for several financial-advice, wealth, and asset-management businesses as a copywriter and content producer.
Cherry Reynard is a freelance financial journalist. She has worked for a range of national, consumer and trade titles including the Financial Times, Telegraph, Moneywise, Citywire and Money Marketing. She has co-authored a book on investing in emerging markets and is a six-time winner of the Investment Management Association’s freelance journalist of the year award and four-time winner of the AIC freelance journalist of the year award. She began her career as a tax accountant for PriceWaterhouseCoopers, before moving to investment bank JP Morgan.
Ritchie is an experienced financial copywriter and editor. He provides marketing content to a variety of banks, law firms and asset managers. Ritchie began his career as a journalist. He has worked as a writer and sub-editor on a raft of publications, including the Daily Telegraph, Independent and Financial News. A qualified NCTJ journalist, he also holds the Investment Management Certificate.
Matthew is an experienced financial journalist and editor. He started his career as a reporter for Accountancy Age and Euromoney, then moving on to writing on economics and business for leading national and international media organisations including Bloomberg News, the Mail on Sunday and Time. Following that he worked for 10 years in a City PR agency where he continued to use his writing and editing skills in meeting clients’ communications needs. Matthew has a degree in English and Philosophy from Cambridge University.
Jeff Salway is a freelance financial journalist. He was previously personal finance editor at The Scotsman and Scotland on Sunday, having also worked for titles including Financial Adviser, Money Management and Moneywise. As a freelancer, Jeff continued to contribute to The Scotsman and Scotland on Sunday and writes regularly for various publications and organisations. He is a six-time winner at the Headlinemoney awards and has won several other awards for financial journalism. He is also a member of the Financial Services Consumer Panel. Prior to becoming a journalist, Jeff worked at Thomson Financial (now Thomson Reuters).
Sarah has over two decades’ experience as a financial journalist, copywriter, editor and communications consultant, working in London, Brussels and Edinburgh. In addition to launching Personal Finance magazine, she has written for What Investment, Moneywise, Investment International, The Observer and Wall Street Journal Europe, among other publications. Sectors covered include law and innovation, as well as financial services. Sarah recently finished an MSc in Marketing from Edinburgh Napier University; she also has a degree in Oriental Studies and Law from the University of Cambridge.
Anthea studied English literature and language at Edinburgh University. Since then, she’s chalked up over 20 years in financial services, after a brief foray into tourism. She’s mainly worked provider side, specialising in pensions, investments and platforms. Anthea held various senior roles across operations, business and proposition development, and marketing. She left corporate life in 2014 to set up as a marketing consultant, copywriter and editor. Her clients include asset managers, product providers, fintech firms and financial planners. Creating impact through language – be it writing or editing – is her passion. Anthea joined Copylab as a freelancer in 2017.
Matt is a financial writer with more than 15 years’ experience in the industry. He started his career as an equity research assistant, before joining a leading UK fund manager in 2000. There, Matt prepared reports on a variety of funds, and wrote topical articles for the national and trade press on behalf of fund managers. In 2007 he relocated ‘Down Under’, where he led the investment communications team at one of Australia’s largest investment management firms. In this position, Matt primarily focused on equity markets, but he has had extensive experience writing about other asset classes including fixed income, property and alternatives. Matt started writing for Copylab on a freelance basis after returning to Europe in 2016.
With over 30 years’ experience as a fund manager in both the long-only and hedge-fund arenas, Johnny brings extensive knowledge of equity markets and the financial world to his role as a freelance writer at Copylab. Formerly Head of Asian Investments at Scottish Provident, a director of Hambro Pacific Hong Kong, and a partner at Altima Partners LLP, he was involved not only in managing funds and investment teams, but also in helping to market investment products and liaise with clients. He has expertise in writing reports, newsletters, marketing documents, market reviews and thought leadership articles.
Anousheh began her career at an M&A boutique bank in Singapore working on deals in industries including retail banking, logistics and luxury retail. She then moved into business consultancy for a snack food company, where she developed financial models for commodity purchasing decisions and strategic marketing plans. Anousheh has an MSc in investment management from Cass Business School. She holds a BSc in economics from the Wharton School of Business, University of Pennsylvania, and a BA in communication from the Annenberg School, University of Pennsylvania.
Tom is a freelance investment writer with more than 14 years’ experience in financial services. He specialises in producing engaging and interesting articles and blogs on a range of topical investment themes. He’s also experienced in writing fund features brochures, white papers, campaign emails, social media and web content. Tom began his career at Deutsche Bank, before working on the derivatives trading desk at Aberdeen Asset Management. He joined Copylab as a freelance writer in early 2017 having worked as an investment writer for Elevate, part of Standard Life (formerly AXA Wealth).
Elspeth has been editing and proofreading for over 25 years. She joined HarperCollins Publishers in 1990 and spent the next 17 years as a lexicographer working on English dictionaries. Since 2007 she has been working as a freelance editor and copywriter for a variety of publishers and on a wide range of dictionaries, thesauruses and language reference books and materials. A native of Glasgow and a graduate of Glasgow University, she has been editing for Copylab since 2016.
John specializes in investment writing and financial communications for asset managers, insurers and registered investment advisors. He brings a thorough understanding of the investment marketplace, including products, regulations and distribution channels. Prior to his freelance career, he worked in marketing and corporate communications at Nationwide in Columbus, Ohio supporting the company’s financial business including mutual funds, annuities and retirement plans. Prior to Nationwide, he managed marketing communications for Meeder Financial, a Dublin, Ohio based registered investment advisor and mutual fund manager.
With over 20 years’ experience within the financial services sector, Lynsay is a highly experienced communications specialist with a strong understanding of both the IFA and consumer markets. Lynsay has excellent knowledge across a number of product areas, including retirement income, asset management, banking and general insurance. She has been working with Copylab for over two years, working on projects for clients such as Santander Asset Management, Aberdeen Asset Management, Sanlam Private Wealth and National Savings & Investments.
Kate is a highly experienced editor who has worked with senior business people, journalists and other major authors on non-fiction lists at firms including HarperCollins and Bloomsbury. She has also been a publications manager at a national charity, dealing with a wide variety of materials aimed at both professionals and members of the public. She proofreads, copy-edits and is skilled at restructuring and rewriting text.
