Editor in Chief
Justin has more than 15 years’ experience as a writer and editor. After reading history at Oxford University, he spent a year in Japan and four years in China before returning to the UK, where he worked as an editor and lexicographer for HarperCollins. He joined Martin Currie Investment Management as an investment writer in 2006 and became head of the company’s writing team in 2010. In 2012 he moved to Shanghai as head of communications for Open Door Capital Group. Justin joined Copylab in the summer of 2013.
Marisa began her career in investment writing and editing in 2007 as an assistant news editor at Forbes.com. From there she went on to fill editorial roles at Condé Nast and at Business Wire’s 24-hour New York headquarters. Marisa relocated to the UK from her native US in 2013 and joined Copylab the following autumn. She holds a Bachelor of Fine Arts degree in writing from Boston’s Emerson College.
Kathryn has nine years’ experience in financial writing and editing. Having begun a career in account management, she then learnt her craft as an investment writer at Standard Life Investments, specialising in fixed income. Kathryn then spent four years at First State Investments, researching and writing about emerging markets and Asia. Kathryn holds a bachelor of arts degree in English language and literature from the Open University and the Investment Management Certificate.
Carmen Reid has been with Copylab since 2015. An author and journalist, Carmen specialises in customer-facing content. She’s also involved with Copylab’s new intern scheme and our plans to expand into Europe. As a committed wordsmith, she’s a regular contributor to the Copylab blog.
Nandini joined Copylab in July 2016 and works with our London team. She has an MSc in financial economics from Saïd Business School, Oxford University and an undergraduate degree in economics from Aston University. She also holds the Investment Management Certification. Her experience before Copylab included working at a company that provides insights about macroeconomic factor models for asset management companies. She also spent two years in the research team of a boutique wealth management company in India.
Vered began her career in financial writing at Euromoney, specialising in renewable energy finance. She then joined IPA advisory as a management consultant, advising on financing for power projects, primarily in the Middle East. She founded a business in 2013, returning to professional writing in August 2016, when she joined Copylab’s London-based team. Vered holds an MBA from Cass Business School and an MSc in mathematics from the Hebrew University in Jerusalem.
Kerry spent nearly 14 years as senior copywriter at Eaton Vance in Boston, before crossing the pond and going freelance. For four years prior to joining Copylab, she wrote primarily about ‘big data’, IT/digital developments and business consulting issues. In a previous life, she was an equity trader, before deciding she much preferred writing about stocks to trading them.
Michael has a wealth of fund-management experience, gained over the past 28 years. He previously worked at Morgan Grenfell, F&C, Martin Currie, Scottish Widows Investment Partnership and Investec, both as a fund manager and in client services/marketing. In this latter role, at Investec, Michael was responsible for originating ad hoc articles as well as writing the monthly and quarterly client documents on behalf of the global equity team. He is a CFA charterholder and a graduate of St Andrews University, where he studied English Literature. He has a passion for writing and joined Copylab in 2015.
Jo joined Copylab in November 2016, after spending four years in compliance at asset management firm Sarasin & Partners. Before that, she worked as a corporate writer for a translation and transcription company, writing for a variety of clients in financial services and the public sector. Jo read Hispanic studies and Russian at Nottingham University and holds a master’s degree in Translation and Editing from Bath.
Kirsty graduated from the University of Glasgow in 2016 with a bachelor of arts degree in history. In her final year of study, she interned as an archivist for the University’s Great War Project, before interning at Copylab during the summer of her graduation. She then took off on a trip across the southern hemisphere and worked for us as a part-time freelancer. Kirsty has since returned from her trip and now works full time in our Edinburgh office.
